Are readings accurate?
There are two questions in that one: is the sky right, and are the meanings right?
The sky: measured, and checked
Every planet position, Moon phase and sign change on Fatesight is calculated with astronomy for the moment it describes, never copied from a table or drawn by hand. We check those calculations against NASA data and other reference ephemerides, and publish the results: how we check it.
Your own chart is only as exact as the birth details you give. A birth time an hour off can move your rising sign and your houses, and without a birth time we can't place them at all; your Sun sign and the planets' signs rarely change. How we calculate the sky explains why.
The meanings: faithful to the tradition
What a placement, a card, a palm line or a number means comes from astrology, tarot, palmistry and numerology: traditions people have used and refined for centuries, from Ptolemy's Tetrabiblos in the second century onward. Each page's "How this page is made" box names the tradition its meanings follow.
For a tradition, getting it right means being faithful to it. We follow its standard correspondences (each sign's element, modality and ruling planet; each card's arcana, suit and number; how each number is reduced), name the texts they come from at the foot of each page, and fix a page that strays from them.
What a reading is for
Your reading is built from your own palm lines, your birthday and the real sky, through traditions astrologers and palmists have refined over two thousand years. It explores the themes and tendencies in your life rather than exact dates. You can use a reading as a prompt: a way to look at love, work or a decision from a new angle, and to notice what you already feel.
