Free astrocartography map
Astrocartography is a map of where on Earth each planet was rising, setting, overhead or underfoot at the moment you were born. Astrologers read the places near a planet's line as places where its theme is stronger for you: Venus lines for love, Jupiter lines for growth, Saturn lines for hard work.
Enter your date, time and place of birth to see where on Earth each planet was rising, setting, overhead or underfoot at the moment you were born.
| Line | Where the planet was | Read as showing in |
|---|---|---|
| Rising (AC) | On the eastern horizon | You: your manner and how you start things |
| Setting (DC) | On the western horizon | Partners and the people you meet |
| Overhead (MC) | At its highest point | Career, reputation and public life |
| Underfoot (IC) | At its lowest point, below you | Home, family and roots |
How to use the map
Enter your birth date, time and place above and the map draws all 40 lines. Look first at the lines that cross places you know, have lived in or want to visit, then read how the lines work and the guide to that planet's line. Start with the Venus line for love and the Jupiter line for growth, and there are guides for love and career.
Where it comes from
The method was developed by the astrologer Jim Lewis in the 1970s, who called it Astro*Carto*Graphy. It rests on the same calculation as a birth chart: for each planet, the places on Earth where it sat on one of the four angles at the minute of your birth.
Lines near home
Many people look first at the lines near where they live. A line close to home is read as a theme you meet every day, while a line on the far side of the world shows up when you travel there or work with people from there.
Astrocartography, also called an astro map or a relocation chart, draws your birth chart onto the world map. Each body from the Sun to Pluto gets four lines, one for each angle of the chart, so there are 40 lines in all. An exact birth time matters: every hour moves a line by about 15°, roughly 1,000 miles at the equator.
Astrological tradition (Lewis 1976): Jim Lewis, who drew the first of these maps in the 1970s, read a place on or near a line as one where that body's themes come forward in your life, most strongly within a few hundred miles of it.

Astrocartography: questions people ask
Do I need my exact birth time for an astro map?
As close as you can get it. Every hour of difference moves the lines about 15 degrees of longitude, so a guessed time can put a line in the wrong country.
What is the best astrocartography line?
Astrologers most often name the Venus and Jupiter lines as the easiest to live on, Venus for love and pleasure and Jupiter for growth and opportunity. The best line for you depends on what you want from a place.
Can astrocartography tell me where to move?
It is read as showing which themes come forward in which places. Many people use it to choose between places they are already considering, alongside the work, the cost and the people they know there.
