Our editorial standards
Fatesight's pages are edited by Maren Tremblay, our editor. Every date and sky position on them is calculated, and every meaning follows a named tradition and the texts it comes from.
What we publish
Our free pages cover the zodiac signs, daily, weekly and monthly horoscopes, the Moon phase today and its calendar, compatibility, tarot card meanings, numerology and angel numbers, the Chinese zodiac, the planets in each sign and Mercury retrograde, with free calculators for your birth chart, your rising and Moon signs and your astro map. Your own readings come from the quiz and a membership.
Who edits our pages
Maren Tremblay edits our guides to the signs, the Moon, tarot and numbers, and keeps every page's dates and sky positions up to date. Each page names her under its heading, with the day it was last updated.
How we calculate the sky
Every planet position, Moon phase, sign change, retrograde, eclipse, decan date and Chinese New Year on the site is computed from astronomy for its date, never typed in or copied from a table. So is every birth chart and astro map our calculators draw, and every life path number they work out. We check our calculations against NASA data and publish the results: how we calculate the sky explains the method and shows how close our positions come.
Sources we use
Each page lists its sources at its foot.
- The sky: astronomy-engine, the open-source library our positions come from, checked against NASA data, and NASA's own explanation of the Moon's phases.
- Western astrology: Ptolemy's Tetrabiblos, in F. E. Robbins's translation.
- Tarot: A. E. Waite's The Pictorial Key to the Tarot (1910), the book of the Rider–Waite–Smith deck, and the Golden Dawn's pairing of cards with signs and decans.
- Numerology: the Pythagorean method, as Encyclopaedia Britannica describes it.
- The Chinese zodiac: the traditional tables of the twelve animals and five elements, and the calendar's own rule for the New Year.
Dates and updates
Each page shows when it was last updated, under its heading. Pages that follow the sky (the horoscopes, the Moon, the retrogrades) are calculated again every day and dated that day. On the others, the date moves when we change the page's words or facts.
