Your 2027 Moon calendar on one page: every new Moon, first quarter, full Moon and last quarter, month by month, with the sign the Moon is in, the traditional full Moon names and the year's eclipses. Print it for the fridge, or tap a month for its day-by-day calendar.
The year in numbers
13 new Moons and 12 full Moons.
Closest full Moon, the one people call a supermoon: January 22, 2027, the Wolf Moon (357,634 km, 222,223 miles away).
Farthest full Moon: July 18, 2027, the Buck Moon (405,968 km, 252,257 miles away).
No Blue Moon by the calendar-month rule, which needs two full Moons in one month.
5 of the new and full Moons are eclipses: February 6, February 20, July 18, August 2, August 17.
Times are in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), to the minute, and agree with NASA's published table of Moon phases to within two minutes. Where your browser allows, your own clock is shown under each.
How to use a Moon calendar
A year's Moon calendar is a handy planning tool. Gardeners, anglers, night photographers and stargazers plan around it, and the tradition reads each phase as a good time for something different: the new Moon for beginning, the first quarter for pushing through, the full Moon for finishing and seeing clearly, the last quarter for letting go. Pick one thing you want to move forward in 2027 and try checking in with it at each new and full Moon: it gives a long year a shape you can actually follow.
Full Moon names
The names come from the Old Farmer's Almanac, which gathered them from Native American, colonial and European traditions. The Harvest Moon is the full Moon nearest the September equinox, and the Hunter's Moon is the one after it. Full Moon names follow the calendar month in which each falls.
