Palm lines

Fate line meaning

By Maren Tremblay, Fatesight editor · Last updated

The fate line is a vertical crease running up the centre of the palm toward the middle finger. In palmistry it is read as career, direction and how much outside circumstances shape a person's path. Many people do not have one, and that is considered normal.

How to find your fate line

The fate line, also called the line of destiny or the Saturn line, runs vertically from near the wrist up toward the base of the middle finger. It can start at the wrist, from the life line, or from the middle of the palm. It crosses the head line and the heart line on its way up.

Where it starts

A line that starts at the wrist is read as a person with a sense of direction early in life. One that starts from the life line is read as someone whose path is shaped by family and background. One that starts in the middle of the palm is read as a path that found its direction later, often in a person's thirties.

Deep, faint and broken lines

A deep, clear fate line is read as a strong sense of purpose in work. A faint or broken one is read as a career with changes of field or of employer. A line that stops at the heart line is read as a point where feelings reshaped plans, and one that stops at the head line as a point where a decision did.

What it means if you have none

No fate line is read as freedom from a fixed course: a person who makes things up as they go and is not tied to one track. Palmistry does not treat this as a gap. It is simply a different way for a path to look.

Fate line meaning: questions people ask

What does it mean if I have no fate line?

Palmistry reads it as a self-directed path, without a single fixed track. Many people have no clear fate line.

Is the fate line the same as the line of destiny?

Yes. Fate line, line of destiny and Saturn line are different names for the same vertical crease.

Does a fate line show success?

Traditionally it is read as direction and purpose in work, not as a measure of success. A strong line is read as clarity about the path.
