Marriage and relationship lines
Marriage lines, or relationship lines, are the short horizontal creases on the outer edge of the palm below the little finger. In palmistry they are read as important bonds in a person's life. Their number is not read as a count of marriages.

| Common myth | The number of lines is not the number of marriages |
How to find them
Turn the hand so the edge below the little finger faces you. The short lines that run in from the edge, between the base of the finger and the heart line, are the relationship lines. Most hands have one to three.
Depth and length
A deep, long relationship line is read as a bond of great importance in a person's life, whether or not it is a marriage. A short or faint one is read as a lighter connection. Length is also read as how long the bond lasts or how far it reaches into the person's life.
Several lines
More than one line is read as more than one significant bond, which can be a partner, a close friend or a family tie. The tradition does not count them as marriages. Palmists also point out that the lines are small and easy to misjudge, which is why they weigh them with the heart line.
Forks, breaks and upward curves
A fork at the end of a line is read as a bond that changes form. A line that curves down toward the heart line is read as a relationship that asked a lot of the person. One that curves up toward the little finger is read as a bond that gave energy and lasted.
Marriage and relationship lines: questions people ask
Do marriage lines show how many times someone marries?
No. Palmistry reads them as significant bonds of any kind. The number of lines is not a count of marriages.
Can marriage lines change?
Palmists say they can deepen, fade or add to over the years, as relationships develop.
How does the heart line relate to relationship lines?
The heart line is read as how you love. The relationship lines are read as the bonds themselves. The two are usually read together.
