Simian line meaning
A simian line is a single crease running straight across the palm, where most hands have a separate heart line and head line. In palmistry it is read as someone who feels and thinks at the same time and goes all in, with little distance between what they want and what they do.
| Where | Straight across the palm, in place of the heart and head lines |
|---|---|
| Read as | Intensity, focus, thinking and feeling as one |
| Also called | A single transverse crease |
How to tell if you have one
Open your hand and look for the two long creases in the upper palm. On most hands the heart line sits near the fingers and the head line sits below it, with a clear gap between them. With a simian line there is one deep crease running edge to edge, and no gap.
If two lines touch only near the thumb, or a faint second line runs beside a deep one, that is usually not a true simian line. Most readers count it only when the single crease takes the whole job.
What palmists read in it
Because the head line is read as reason and the heart line as feeling, a palmist reads one line as those two working together. That is taken as concentration. People with this line are said to throw themselves into whatever they care about, and to find half measures hard. They may work very hard and love very hard, and take a long time to come out of either.
On one hand or both
Most people who have a simian line have it on one hand. Reading the left hand as what you were born with and the right as how you live now, a line on the left alone is read as an intensity you have learned to manage. On the right alone it is read as a focus that has grown over time. On both, readers call it the most concentrated version.
How to live with it
The tradition's advice is about pacing. If you tend to run at full power or not at all, it helps to pick what deserves that power, and to tell people close to you that you are not always able to switch off. The same concentration that can be hard on a relationship tends to serve you very well in a craft.
Simian line meaning: questions people ask
Is a simian line rare?
It's uncommon. Most hands have two separate lines in that part of the palm, so palmists tend to take notice of it when they see one.
Is a simian line lucky?
Palmistry doesn't sort it as good or bad. It reads it as intensity, which helps in some parts of life and makes others harder.
Does a simian line change the rest of a reading?
It changes how the upper palm is read, since one line does the work of two. The life line, the fate line and the hand's shape are still read as usual.
