What Saturn retrograde means

Saturn is the planet of responsibility, limits and long-term structure, so its retrograde is read as a review of what you have built and how solid it is. Duties and rules may seem to ease for a time, but the tradition reads that as a chance to check your foundations rather than as time off.

Saturn goes retrograde once a year for about four and a half months. Like every outer planet, it does so when the Earth passes it on the inside track of the Sun, so it happens at about the same time each year, moving later by a couple of weeks.
